The nut-right has a tremendous confidence in their Jedi mind tricks. And they should. They've worked admirably for them since October 1980.
The Reaganites used to say that the election of 1980 was one of those watershed elections like 1860 and 1932 and I didn't want to beleive them but it is clear that they were right. The rise of the religious right to its current position of domination and the creation of our current fascist state were all there in 1980 and we didn't think it could possibly get as bad as it is today.
